When Grace Gets Angry is an original hand-drawn mixed-media work created by Mio in 2020 using crayon, pen, Sharpie, and colored pencil.

Inspired by the emotional immediacy of childhood and parenthood, and in conversation with Molly Bang’s children’s book When Sophie Gets Angry—Really, Really Angry..., the piece captures the outsized intensity of a child’s anger through a deliberately raw, colorful, and expressive visual language.

It is simultaneously personal, humorous, and deeply familiar to anyone who has spent enough time around children to understand that very small people can have extremely large feelings.
