Arcade gamer first, competitor second, hardcore player of casual games last. This is the growing record of games I’ve put real time into: the ones I’ve studied, competed in, and kept coming back to.
Starting with the two that have their own home on this site.
Fighting game
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
My #1 favorite video game of all time
Competitive play. The timing, the reads, the execution, and the decisions inside a fraction of a second. This is a game I care a ridiculous amount about.
The things I pay attention to: responsive inputs, readable feedback, risk and reward, and the difference between knowing what to do and being able to execute it.
More than twenty years of play, including competitive play. Music, movement, stamina, precision, and the satisfaction of doing something I couldn’t do before.
The things I pay attention to: timing feedback, readable interfaces, difficulty progression, practice loops, and ways to make improvement visible.
Being good at a game and building one are different skills. My offering brings my technical and design background together with the player’s perspective I’ve spent a lifetime developing.
